Kent-Moore EL-49976-B Battery Lift Fixture (EL49976-A)

Applications: All model year Volt and ELR

EL-49976-B is an aluminum framework fixture with four nylon straps that supports a Volt battery pack during removal and replacement. The fixture bolts to a hydraulic lift table and is raised up under the vehicle. The pack is detached, and the table is lowered. The fixture is unbolted from the table and the pack is then removed from the fixture using a floor crane that is hooked to the fixture's nylon lift straps. The pack is lowered to the shop floor and the crane hook is detached from the lift straps. The new replacement pack is shipped sitting on another EL-49976-B Fixture that is part of the GM shipping container. The floor crane hooks on the lift straps of the container's EL-49976-B Fixture and lifts the pack out of the container and onto the lift table. The container's fixture is bolted to the lift table and the table raises the pack up into place under the vehicle. The electrical and coolant connections are made, battery pack attachment bolts are installed, and table is removed. The depleted pack, sitting on the floor on the dealer's original EL-49976 Fixture, is raised using the straps and floor crane, and lowered into the shipping container for return to GM. The procedure results in a swap of the dealer's fixture with the fixture from the shipping container.
