To prevent damage to a replacement or repaired transmission, the oil cooler and lines must be flushed of debris and contaminated fluid and the flow tested using the J-45096 TransFlow before the transmission is operated. To increase the energy efficiency of the Volt, a bypass valve, attached with short tubes to the oil cooler, allows the flow of oil to pass by the cooler until the oil temperature reaches 180 degrees. To flush and flow test the oil cooler, the valve must be detached and an adapter is required to connect the J-45096 to the oil cooler. J-45096-55 includes two adapters that allow the J-45096 be attached to the cooler. A flow test code is created by the J-45096 which is required on the dealership repair order for payment of the warranty claim.
